INTRODUCTION TO MACHO DANCE - EISA JOCSON

This workshop is an introduction to the basic techniques of macho dancing.

These techniques have been distilled and codified through the research and touring of Macho Dancer. In 2014 a basic macho handbook was created as part of the solo exhibition, PMA: Philippine Macho Academy. From this handbook the workshop structure will go through the following: macho posture and stance, undulations, macho walk, knee swivels, poses and use of the gaze. The physical principles of macho dancing will be explored beginning with the illusion of weight and volume as well as viscosity in time and space. Participants are required to bring knee pads and boots/rubber shoes.
