70 youth dancers. Seven companies. Five states. Two performances.

Experience the energy of live performance from the next generation of dancers at (RE)GENERATE, the marquee performance event for the Australian Youth Dance Festival 2022. Be part of the (RE)Connection (RE)Generation and (RE)Ingition of Australian Youth Dance.

Programmed by Co-Artistic Directors and leaders in youth dance, Caitlin Comerford (Tas) and Kyall Shanks (Vic), this performance is a 90-minute, intimately presented journey showcasing the talents of youth dance from around the country.

“The way youth dancers have conducted themselves through global scale events, both as people and as artists, has been an undeniable sign of strength, resiliency and adaptability. To be in the room when these dancers return to the stage together will be momentous,” say the artistic directors.

Dancers from Yellow Wheel (Vic), Youth Dance Makers Initiative (Vic), Stompin (Tas), QL2 (ACT), Austi Dance and Physical Theatre (NSW), The Flipside Project (NSW) and FLING Physical Theatre (NSW) will perform a diverse array of contemporary dance works.

AYDF 2022 unites young and emerging contemporary dance artists and the professional allies who work with them for a week of collaboration and creation designed to regenerate the youth dance sector in Australia. The festival includes workshops, forums and networking for youth dancers, dance and arts leaders, capped by the public performance of (RE)GENERATE.

When? 7 July, 6.30pm & 8.30pm at Studio 221, Victorian College of the Arts.
