The Australian Ballet has announced the promotion of six artists across the company, recognising their dedication, artistic growth and contribution to the company.

Grace Carroll and Samara Merrick have been promoted from Soloist to Senior Artist, while Elijah Trevitt rises from Coryphée to Soloist. Daniel Bryne, Harrison Bradley and Alexandra Walton have each been promoted from the Corps de Ballet to Coryphée.

The announcement marks a particularly swift rise for Carroll and Merrick, who both joined The Australian Ballet in 2021 and were promoted to Coryphée in 2024, then Soloist in 2025. Carroll, who was born and raised in Sydney, trained at Tanya Pearson Academy, with opportunities at Paris Opera Ballet School and then graduating from the Royal Ballet School before joining the company. Earlier this year, Dance Australia noted the promise of her Juliet in John Cranko’s Romeo and Juliet,  observing “a buzz in the house sensing a new star in the making.”

Merrick, from Taree in New South Wales, trained through The Australian Ballet School’s Intra/Interstate & International Training Program before joining the School full-time in 2017. Trevitt, who trained at The Royal Ballet School, joined The Australian Ballet in 2021 and was promoted to Coryphée in 2024.

The new Coryphées also bring varied training pathways to the milestone. Bryne grew up in Newcastle and trained at Central School of Dance, Newcastle Ballet Theatre and The Australian Ballet School before joining the company in 2018. Bradley, from Christchurch, trained at Ann Judson School of Dance, Southern Ballet School and The Australian Ballet School. Walton, born in Sydney, trained locally before taking up a full scholarship at Houston Ballet Academy and later returning to Australia, joining The Australian Ballet’s corps de ballet in 2024.

Please join us in congratulating all six artists on their promotions.
