The stage is set for Australia’s top breakers to throw down as the Red Bull BC One Cypher Australia returns to Brisbane this August. This high-octane national final, held at the Brisbane Powerhouse on 24 August 2025, will see 16 b-boys and 8 b-girls compete for the ultimate prize: the chance to represent Australia at the Red Bull BC One World Final in Tokyo this November.
As the biggest one-on-one breaking competition on the planet, Red Bull BC One has built a global reputation for spotlighting elite breaking talent since its inception in 2004. With more than 70 events across 27 countries, the series continues to elevate the art of breaking to international prominence.
Before the Powerhouse erupts with powermoves, freezes, toprock, and footwork, aspiring breakers can test their skills at the Brisbane Cypher qualifier on 23 August at Elements Collective Studio. Finalists from this open round will join the hand-picked national contenders the next day for what promises to be a thrilling display of rhythm, creativity, and athleticism.
This year’s national final will be hosted by B-Boy Fongo and Wongo, with a judging panel featuring international breaking icon Kid David (Step Up 5, Battle of the Year), along with respected local figures B-Boy Pepito from WA and B-Girl Naru from Melbourne.
Adding to the energy will be a stacked music lineup, including beatbox phenom Tom Thum, music production duo Rush Hour (RSHR), and DJ sets from DJ Bacon and Sadiva. The night will be a celebration of hip-hop culture, from the beats to the battles.
Leah Clark, aka B-Girl Flix, founder of Elements Collective and a driving force in the Australian breaking community, summed it up: “Red Bull BC One is one of the biggest competitions on the breaking scene, on a local and global level. Audiences are in for the most exciting and energetic night, seeing breaking up close and personal, with literally the best breakers in the country. There will be so much energy and such a vibe – Red Bull BC One is going to be huge.”
Only one b-boy and one b-girl will earn their ticket to Tokyo’s Last Chance Cypher, the final hurdle before the World Final. The pressure is real, the talent is fierce, and the atmosphere promises to be electric.
