The Royal Ballet has announced that Patricio Revé will join the Company as a Principal dancer from the start of the 2026/27 season, marking a significant new chapter for the Cuban-born artist whose career has spanned Havana, Brisbane and the world’s major stages.

Revé has been performing as a Guest Artist with The Royal Ballet, where he has already made a strong impression. He debuted with the Company in May 2025 in the title role of Kenneth MacMillan’s Romeo and Juliet, performing opposite Natalia Osipova to critical acclaim. That partnership continued later in the year in Alexei Ratmansky’s Middle Duet and Akram Khan’s Mud of Sorrow, presented as part of Osipova/Linbury in November.

This season, Revé’s Royal Ballet appearances continue to expand. He opens in January with his debut as Richard in Wayne McGregor’s Woolf Works, followed in February by Glen Tetley’s Pierrot Lunaire, where he appears as Brighella in the Linbury Theatre. In March, he returns to one of the great classical roles of the repertoire, dancing Albrecht in Peter Wright’s production of Giselle on 7, 13 and 19 March, again partnering Osipova.

Director of The Royal Ballet Kevin O’Hare said the appointment reflects the impact Revé has already made on the Company. ‘I’m delighted to welcome Patricio into the Company as a Principal dancer. His flair and artistry have already made such a strong impression during his guest appearances. These qualities, combined with a natural stage presence, align so well with The Royal Ballet. He will make a great addition to our wonderful roster of Principal dancers,’ he said.

For Revé, the invitation carries deep personal meaning. ‘I was so excited to receive the invitation from Kevin to join The Royal Ballet as a Principal dancer – it is a dream come true,’ he said. ‘Performing alongside such incredible artists and being part of this historic company is an honour. I am grateful to all the dancers and staff who have made me so welcome, and I look forward to connecting with the very special audiences at the Royal Opera House and beyond.’

Born in Havana, Revé trained at the Fernando Alonso National Ballet School before joining the Cuban National Ballet in 2015, where he was promoted to Principal dancer just two years later. Under the directorship of Li Cunxin AO, he joined Queensland Ballet in 2018 and rose to Principal Artist in 2022, becoming a defining presence in the Company’s classical and contemporary repertoire.

Australian audiences will know Revé for his commanding performances as Romeo, Des Grieux, Oberon in Liam Scarlett’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Harry in Cathy Marston’s My Brilliant Career, alongside principal roles in works by Balanchine, Lander and Stevenson.

His appointment to The Royal Ballet recognises an exceptional international career, also marking a moment of pride for Queensland Ballet and Australian audiences who have followed his artistic journey closely.
