The first issue of Dance Australia for 2024 is OUT and bursting with news, reviews and features.

The annual Critics' Choice survey has returned in full for the first time since the pandemic. Dance Australia's team of critics describe their highlights for 2023, whether they be individual dancers or whole company productions.

Complementing the highlights of last year is our What's On feature: a snapshot of the highlights for this year. Discover all the choicest forthcoming dance, with luscious accompanying photos.

In keeping with our ambition to give voice to the great choreographers, Melbourne writer Rhys Ryan has interviewed Anglo/Bangladeshi artistic director, Akram Khan, who is bringing his latest marvel, Jungle Book revisited, to Australia.

And within Australia, Denise Richardson talks about balancing home and stage life with Amber Haines and Kyle Page, the talented couple leading Dancenorth in Townsville.

What do we mean by 'artistry'? We talk about it a lot, but what are we describing? Queensland Ballet's Matthew Lawrence explores this ineffable topic.

Another of our regular expert writers, Lucy Christodolou, advises on how to turn an injury time-out into a positive experience.

Why are some pupils deciding against taking exams? Education writer Michelle Dursun finds out.

And last but not least, meet the examiners in our biennial Syllabus Guide and find out what each syllabus has to offer.

All this and lot's more!
