Applications have opened for the second round of Create NSW’s 2026 Regional Arts Touring Program, with grants of up to $120,000 available to support tours across regional New South Wales.
Individual artists and groups can apply for between $10,000 and $75,000, while organisations can seek between $20,000 and $120,000. Dance is among the eligible artforms, alongside theatre, music, comedy, literature, First Nations arts and culture, visual arts and museum exhibitions.
For independent choreographers, small ensembles and established companies, the program provides an opportunity to extend the life of a work, reach audiences outside Sydney and build relationships with regional venues and artists. Tours may include performances, workshops and other participatory or educational activities.
“We’re calling all creatives with their sights set on touring throughout regional NSW to apply, from solo artists to large ensembles, including creatives from Western Sydney and regional areas,” said Create NSW Executive Director Kerri Glasscock.
“The program supports artists and regional communities alike, creating both professional opportunities and unforgettable experiences, so arts and culture can be enjoyed by everyone, wherever you live in NSW.”
Funding can cover travel and accommodation, freight and packing, venue and rehearsal hire, artist fees, marketing and audience development, accessibility measures and costs associated with First Nations protocols and Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property.
Applicants do not need to have every venue confirmed when they apply. Tours still in development, including those with unconfirmed activities or destinations, may be considered.
All proposals must directly benefit regional NSW artists, arts workers, communities or audiences. Create NSW defines regional NSW as all local government areas outside Greater Sydney. Regionally based applicants may also seek support for a Sydney or Western Sydney component within a broader tour.
The program will fund up to 90 per cent of a tour’s income, with applicants required to provide at least 10 per cent through other cash or in-kind support. Eligible tours must begin after 1 February 2027 and be completed by 31 January 2029.
Individual applicants must be aged 18 or over and have lived in NSW for at least 12 months. Groups must have a majority of members based in NSW, while preference will be given to NSW-based organisations. Schools and educational institutions are not eligible to apply, although eligible professional tours may include workshops and programs for young audiences.
Applications will be assessed on the strength and relevance of the proposed tour, its connection to regional places and communities, participation and access, and the applicant’s planning, experience and financial management.
Applications close at 2pm on Tuesday 13 October 2026.
