Leanne Stojmenov began her professional dance journey as an artist with West Australian Ballet before dedicating the next 18 years of her career to The Australian Ballet, where she rose to the rank of Principal Artist. Over eight years in this role, she toured internationally and performed extensively, collaborating with many of the world’s most celebrated classical and contemporary choreographers. Returning to West Australian Ballet as Rehearsal Director, she brings her artistry, leadership, and experience to support and inspire the next generation of dancers in her hometown, where her own journey began.

Leanne finds great purpose in inspiring creativity, fostering resilience, and nurturing the artistic spirit. She is deeply committed to cultivating and guiding the next wave of artists, both on stage and in the studio. As a lecturer at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), she trained Diploma, Advanced Diploma, and Bachelor of Arts students, while also restaging and directing numerous productions. This role demanded a blend of technical expertise, creative vision, and pedagogical skill, allowing her to play a vital role in shaping emerging artists and contributing to the vibrancy of Australia’s dance landscape.

Beyond performance and teaching, Leanne has contributed to the sector through her work as a founding committee member and later Vice President of Ballet Without Borders, where she championed pathways and educational opportunities for children from diverse socio-economic backgrounds. Her international performance career includes guest appearances with Houston Ballet, Christopher Wheeldon’s Morphoses, the Royal Swedish Ballet, and the Miami International Dance Festival. She has been recognised with the Australian Dance Award for Most Outstanding Performance by a Female Dancer.

Leanne Stojmenov has been appointed Artistic Director of West Australian Ballet, commencing January 2026.

"This playlist is a celebration of the extraordinary works and inspiring artists that have shaped my journey and enriched my life in countless ways. From Nijinsky to Swan Lake, Bella Figura to Giselle, Suite en Blanc to Concerto—and many more—what an unforgettable ride it has been. I had to stop somewhere… but truly, the list could go on forever!

I hope, as you listen, these pieces give you a glimpse of that journey and bring you even a fraction of the joy, inspiration, and wonder they have given me."
