The West Australian Ballet is in the midst of the premiere season of Goldberg Variations, choreographed by acclaimed choreographer Natalie Weir and set to the musical masterpiece by Johann Sebastian Bach.

In commissioning the ballet, the company's Artistic Director Aurélien Scannella fulfilled a long held ambition after seeing an adaptation while in Europe. “Bach’s Goldberg Variations are simple yet ambitious, textural and captivating,” he says. “To feature this piece of historic composition alongside Natalie Weir’s physical, flowing movement style will create a new masterpiece.”

Weir is well known internationally for her touching insight into humanity, highly physical partner work, and organic and beautiful movement.

Goldberg Variations will run till September 24 at His Majesty’s Theatre, Perth. For more, go here.
