With scenes of the impact of the recent Nepal earthquakes fresh in our collective minds, Leshan Dance Company’s Fault Lines is bound to strike a chord with audiences.
Fault Lines was created in response to the devastating earthquakes in Christchurch in 2011 and in the Sichuan province of China in 2008, by New Zealand choreographer Sara Brodie and China’s Sichuan province-based Leshan Song & Dance Troupe. The work had its world premiere at the Melbourne Festival in 2012.
Blending traditional Chinese dance and culture with contemporary dance, Brodie and the Leshan Song & Dance Troupe have created an intimate and personal response to earthquake experiences. Fault Lines has an original score, composed by Gareth Farr, who sat in on the creative process and composed the music as the work was being put together.
Fault Lines plays Sydney, 11-13 June, bookings here www.roslynpackertheatre.com.au and Canberra 15-16 June, bookings here www.canberratheatrecentre.com.au.
