The producers of the forthcoming A Chorus Line have finally announced the full cast. There are 29 roles to fill (including swings) in this musical, which is the most dancerly musical of them all.
We already know that Josh Horner (most recently a judge on Dancing with the Stars) has the role of Zach, the show’s director and auditioner who holds the fate of the dancers in his hands, and that Anita Louise Combe has won the role of the Cassie. Combe is one of the few people in the world who has played both roles of Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly in the production of Chicago in the West End. Anita credentials include creating the role of Stephanie Mangano in the world premiere production of Saturday Night Fever and played Betty in Sunset Boulevard in London and Toronto.

Direct from Broadway and a US tour, this new Australian production is directed and re-staged by Baayork Lee, one of the original cast members and inspirations from the original 1975 production. The musical supervisor will be Peter Casey (Jekyll & Hyde, Topol’s Fiddler On The Roof) and the show is produced by Tim Lawson and TML Enterprises (Topol’s Fiddler On The Roof, Shout!, The Rocky Horror Show).
A Chorus Line was originally conceived, choreographed and directed by the legendary Michael Bennett, featuring a book by James Kirkwood and Nicholas Dante, with music by Marvin Hamlisch and lyrics by Edward Kleban.
Director Baayork Lee has been involved in A Chorus Line from the beginning, and the role of Connie Wong in large part based on her own life. She has since directed and choreographed 35 international productions of the show.
‘A Chorus Line’ opens in Adelaide at the Festival Theatre on December 31, then moves to Melbourne’s Her Majesty’s Theatre on February 4.
