Sydney Dance Company is returning with Rafael Bonachela's ab [intra].

Australia’s leading contemporary dance company, Sydney Dance Company, is set to take stage in 2022 with its annual ab [intra] performance, a creation from creative director Rafael Bonachela. The stunning performance provides audiences the chance to return to the theatre to experience dance live on stage again. The sheer athleticism and virtuosity of some of Australia’s finest contemporary dancers is stunning.

ab [intra], meaning ‘from within’ in Latin, is more than an external expression of art, rather a journey through the intensity of human existence that will command your attention. The dancers will be accompanied by music that fuses lush cello with ambient electronica to enhance the raw and emotional performance.

LG SIGNATURE, the premium brand from LG Electronics, has joined forces with Sydney Dance Company as the Presenting Partner of the company’s Sydney performances season of ab [intra] and have already commenced working in tandem to fuse together art and technology through content. We had an exclusive behind the scenes sneak peek of what’s to come.

With the impact of the global pandemic and a large majority of performances on hold, the past few years haven’t been easy for Australia’s performing arts sector. The partnership between LG SIGNATURE and Sydney Dance Company illustrates how both technology and art can complement each other to enhance both art forms. With this in mind, LG SIGNATURE is proud to be able to contribute to supporting the arts and cultural industry, especially as we work through the effects of pandemic.

Gemma Lemieux, Marketing Director at LG Electronics Australia said, “It’s never been a more important time to support the Australian performing arts industry and help Australians enjoy cultural experiences. The Sydney Dance Company and its community of supporters have shown incredible determination during the past year. With uncertainty around the COVID-19 situation looming, we hope that creating more avenues for Australians to be immersed creatively will help to not only support the arts and cultural industry, but also the broader community as well.”

ab [intra] is set to commence in Sydney from June 2022. Below you can watch a sneak peek of the latest performance and visit the Sydney Dance Company’s website for more information.
