Did your original career aim change from when you started your studies to when you graduated?

Yes. I originally joined Transit Dance to get back into a healthy routine and a sense of life purpose. I had “quit” dance for two years prior to enrolling, and my mental health had seriously declined. I decided dance was something I knew well, and I had a childhood friend in the course, so I decided it would be a good way to improve my lifestyle. The year I was at Transit, I greatly improved my recovery process, and became passionate about pursing a career in dance again.

What is your best memory of your studies?

The best memory is of the large variety of teachers and mentors we had over the year. The versatility of creative processes, movement practices and technical vocabularies we were exposed too has had a direct impact on my capabilities as a dance artist.

Damian is just one of many graduates who tell their stories in the Full-Time Studies Guide in the current issue of Dance Australia (July/August/September). Print is for keeps! Buy your issue in your favourite newsagent or dance retailer or online here or here.
