Congratulations to Gavin Webber on winning a Sidney Myer Performing Arts Award. The award winners were announced in Melbourne on 4 April.

Together with Grayson Millwood, Webber is co artistic director of Queensland-based dance company The Farm. Together the pair create physical performances that show the fragility and strength of the human condition. Their latest work, Frank Enstein, is currently playing in Perth and you can read our review of the Gold Coast season here.

Webber was the winner of the Individual Award with Australian Theatre for Young People, (NSW), winning the Group Award, $90,000 and Kathy Burns, artistic director, Barkly Regional Arts, (NT), winning the Facilitator’s Prize, $25,000.

"The Sidney Myer Fund is delighted to recognise the invaluable contribution that each of these wonderful winners makes to the arts in Australia and to the wider community,” says Carrillo Gantner AO, Chairman of the Sidney Myer Fund. “It is the dynamic and tireless work of these, and indeed so many other artists perusing their visions that greatly enriches our lives and helps build a more cohesive Australian society. I congratulate each of them,” say Carrillo Gantner AO, Chairman of the Sidney Myer Fund.
