Train full-time alongside a professional dance company in technique, choreography, and performance, including self-producing skills.
Whether you aspire to life in a full-time dance company, as an independent freelance artist, or as a choreographic researcher, this course will empower you to find your individual career path.

Sydney Dance Company is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO #45863)
Main subjects: Classical and contemporary dance techniques, Improvisation and composition, Partnering and contact improvisation, Sydney Dance Company repertoire, International and local artists repertoire, Choreographic developments with guest choreographers, Career development and self-producing skills, Embodied anatomy for strength and conditioning, Holistic wellness and more.
Practical dance classes per week:
Ten technique and development sessions per week
Five 3-hour guest workshops per week
Contact hours per day: 32.5 hours per week.
Pre-requisites/entry requirements: It is recommended that applicants be at least 18 years of age in the year of joining the program. Applications are open to Australian and New Zealand residents.
Main teachers: Head of Training Linda Gamblin, Head of Learning Samantha Dashwood, Pre-Professional Year Course Coordinator Tobiah Booth-Remmers, Training Associate Juliette Barton, Learning Associate Alexandria Panetta, Conditioning Manager Felicity McGee, Sydney Dance Company’s Rehearsal Director Richard Cilli, Sydney Dance Company’s Rehearsal Associate Charmene Yap. Up to 35 guest choreographers each year.
Audition date: All candidates must complete an online application form that includes 3 short video links of a classical, contemporary and improvised dance phrase. Live audition dates below:

Audition requirements: If you are unable to attend the live audition, there is an option to submit a Video Only Audition. This requires contacting training@sydneydancecompany.com for further information.

Scholarships or subsidies: Sydney Dance Company offers a limited number of scholarships made available thanks to generous support provided by private donors. Dancers who have been accepted into the program and who are unable to meet the course fee requirements are encouraged to apply.
