Yeah The Boys: Call for Performers
FORM Dance and Places and Spaces Productions are looking for six performers for the first stage creative development of Vanessa Marian and Stefan Hunt’s “Yeah The Boys” as they prepare to bring the seminal film to the live stage.
“Yeah the Boys” dives deep into masculinity, mateship, and the raw energy of a backyard piss-up, evolving into a global celebration of connection, creativity, and community. Equal parts cheeky, brutal, and tender, the workshop builds on the award-winning short film scored by The Avalanches – a sharp and unflinching exploration of Australian masculinity and the nation’s deep, complicated ties to drinking culture The audition will involve a range of performance modalities from contemporary and street dance, to acro, and physical theatre. It is open to artists of all gender-expressions looking to explore their masculinity, with an emphasis on playfulness, exploration, and character-work.
*Please note that this is an emotionally confronting thematic exploration, and we ask that you do not apply if you think you will find it triggering.* “Yeah The Boys” creative development is a paid opportunity supported by Sydney Opera House as part of their Create Space artist residency program and will lead directly to the creation of a full-evening production and presentation across 2026/7. The best way to prepare for this opportunity is to attend the workshop immediately prior. Details can be found via the website. Noting that this workshop is not a mandatory pathway to audition.
