The Destructive Steps Street Dance Festival

The Destructive Steps Street Dance Festival is coming to Sydney for its 11th year. From 30 August until 1 September, dancers from around the world will compete in the biggest street dance event in the country.

Australian dancers will go head-to-head with some of the world’s best from Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, USA, New Caledonia and Philippines in the categories of bboy/bgirl (breaking), popping, and open styles (inclusive of other dance styles such as locking, waacking, hip hop, krump and many more).

There will also be dedicated battles for those under 18 years and women only. International guests will be hosting workshops to share styles from other cultures.

Alice Tauv, Festival Director at Destructive Steps comments, “We’re excited to move to our new location at Darling Square. Our dance battles have previously been held indoors so it’s great to get the full run of The Square and really showcase what we can do! Lendlease has been great in facilitating the move and we can’t wait to get into the swing of our first festival within Darling Harbour.”

The event features an impressive international line up of judges, including Mr. Wiggles and YNOT of the legendary Rock Steady Crew (USA); Heat Rock (USA), Narumi (Japan), Becky (Korea); and Racheezels (Singapore).
