Applications OPEN, Out of the Studion 2019

Out of the Studio is an opportunity for emerging choreographers to develop new ideas and a platform to present a new work to audiences in a theatre context.

DirtyFeet provides: 3 weeks of studio space (Monday – Friday 9 - 28 September) at FORM Dance Projects in Parramatta and/or Readymade Works in Ultimo; A presentation over 2 nights and 1 matinee on 27 and 28 September at East Sydney Community and Arts Centre.

The presentation will involve a Q&A, minimal production values such as simple lighting with a theatre capacity of 60 people per night; The choreographer with a fee of $940 per week; 1-4 dancers or other collaborators (to be negotiated) with a fee of $882.80 per week each; A budget of up to $200 to spend on your work eg. For props/costumes/projector/music; A mentor to offer guidance at 3 points of contact (a $300 stipend for the mentor will be provided); Photo and video documentation; Producer, administrative support, marketing, production and technical support.

Guidelines/selection criteria: The project should be solidly based in contemporary dance practices and can include collaborations with artists from other disciplines; Emerging choreographer; The artists involved should be NSW-based artists, or artists who have a demonstrated practice in NSW.

The program made its debut in 2014 with choreographers Rob McCredie and Sarah-Vyne Vassallo and continued in 2015 with works presented from choreographers Rhiannon Newton and Rosslyn Wythes. In 2016 new works were created by Brianna Kell and Ivey Wawn and in 2017, Thomas E.S.Kelly and Matt Cornell created new works. 2018 new works were created by Sara Black and Lucky Lartey.
