The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) in Western Australia  is holding its annual Festival of Dance this weekend, at the John Curtin College of the Arts in Fremantle.  The Festival will see 340 dancers from 21 ballet schools across Perth compete for three scholarships as well as awards across various categories.

Adjudicators include Rachel Rawlins (recently retired principal with the Australian Ballet, Aurelien Scannella (artistic director of West Australian Ballet), Justin Rutzou (senior lecturer at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Art) and Alessandra D’Arbe (dancer with West Australian Ballet).

On Sunday night, 1 June, the winners of all sections will come together on stage for the anticipated Gala Performance, a spectacular presentation showcasing some of WA’s promising new dance talent. Audiences at the Gala will also be treated to guest performances by WAAPA dance students, Liam Green (West Australian Ballet Young Artist) and Ochre Contemporary Dance Company.

Tickets for the festival can be purchased from the door (Adults $15, Concession $10) as can tickets for the Gala Performance on Sunday Evening, 1 June (Adults $25, children $20.)
