The Victorian State Schools Spectacular will see 3000 students from more than 200 government schools perform on September 10 at Hisense Arena. Entitled “The Elements”, the three hour show will include dance, vocals, magic tricks and skating… not to mention a giant robot cat puppet!

The theme covers both the ancient elements of earth, air, fire and water, and the periodic table of the elements… all served with a dash of pop music and stage magic. The show includes a 64 piece orchestra, 1300 voice choir, 1200 mass dancers, 14 lead dancers, 30 lead vocalists, 8 backing vocalists, 22 roller skaters and ten puppeteers.

In the lead up to September 10, the students have the opportunity to learn and work with industry professionals such as musical director Chong Lim (Sydney Olympics, Dancing with the Stars and John Farnham), choreographers Yvette Lee, Troy Phillips and Deon Nuku. The Spectacular also has a partnership with the Australian Chamber Orchestra, providing tutoring and mentoring to student string musicians, as well Jason Coleman’s Ministry of Dance.
