Perth dancer Jonathan Buckels has spent the last nine years in Germany, performing as well as choreographing for numerous companies. Now he is returning to his home town to present a full-length work under the auspices of Strut Dance and performed with independent artist Rhiannon Newton.
Newton has also has spent time overseas, mostly in Holland and Israel. She is currently based in WA where she works for the Chrissie Parrott Performance Company and in various independent projects. Throughout 2010 she developed The Checkpoint Solo with Jo Pollitt and will perform the solo in the 2011 Brisbane Festival's “Under The Radar”.
For this show, titled Fuse, she and Buckels will “discover the cycle of two people who begin as strangers, become friends, journey towards cohorts, through dependency, and end as parasites”.
