Life in Movement, the documentary about the late dancer and choreographer Tanja Liedtke, opens in cinemas on April 12, and Dance Australia has 20 double passes to give away.
The dance world was shocked when Liedtke was killed by a garbage truck on the eve of commencing her new role as arttistic director of Sydney Dance Company. She was only 29 years old.
Filmmakers Bryan Mason and Sophie Hyde were friends with Liedtke, and after her death wanted to honour her and her work. When the Liedtke’s partner and dancers decided to tour a program of her work, Mason and Hyde followed, recording the process for their film. The result has been called a "moment of triumph" by The Advertiser.
This film is a chance to glimpse the talent and drive that convinced Sydney Dance Company she could fill the shoes of outgoing director Graeme Murphy. It is also an “ insight into the energy, passion and doubt that mark out truly creative people”, according to the directors.
