Ausdance Victoria is presenting a professional development forum, "Teaching Dance to Boys", at the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School.
As recently published in Time magazine, male dancers encompass the masculine qualities of strength, stamina and presence.
This forum focuses on specialised methods in teaching dance to boys and features a panel of industry experts.
The half day event, 12 – 4pm, will explore the physiological and mental differences between girls and boys, their different stages of development, their goals and preferences. It is important to teach boys well so they can physically, mentally and emotionally mature into their chosen career paths.
Presenters on the day include teachers from the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School, university lecturer Lee Anton-Hem, and Todd Patrick of Patrick Studios Australia, all of whom have important leverage in the dance industry to comment on the development of teaching boys dance.
This forum is part of Ausdance Victoria’s Dance Across the Domains 2012 Program.
