Sydney Dance Company’s acclaimed INDance season returns this August, offering a bold platform for some of the country’s most compelling independent choreographers. Presented across two weeks in the Neilson Studio, INDance 2025 brings together four distinctive works that explore new ideas and perspectives in contemporary dance.

This year’s lineup includes works by five acclaimed artists: Rebecca Jensen, Amy Zhang, Alison Currie & Alisdair Macindoe, and Jo Lloyd. Handpicked by a panel of industry advisors led by Artistic Director Rafael Bonachela, each artist brings a unique voice and vision to the stage.

Now in its fourth year, INDance continues to highlight Sydney Dance Company’s commitment to innovation and artistic development. By sharing its stage and resources, the Company empowers independent artists to take risks and reach wider audiences.

“INDance is one of our most important programs, underscoring our commitment to supporting independent dance,” said Rafael Bonachela. “Each year, the calibre of work highlights the depth, intelligence and creativity driving Australia’s independent dance sector.”

Funded by the Neilson Foundation, INDance has become a vital part of the national dance calendar. Trustee Paris Neilson said, “As INDance reaches its fourth year, it is inspiring to see this initiative deepen its role… Our commitment is about more than access to the stage; it’s about building opportunities.”
