Sydney Dance Company has recently announced its 2011 season and there is plenty to look forward to. Two major new works will be created by the company’s artistic director Rafael Bonachela (whose contract has been renewed for a further three years).
The first season will be 2 one another, and “will explore the themes of relationships and the individual among the group as well as the impacts of external forces upon them”. Bonachela is once again collaborating with designer Tony Assness, with whom he last joined forces on 360 degrees in 2008. 2 one another will open in March.
The second major season will be a joint presentation with the celebrated Australian Chamber Orchestra, led by the equally celebrated director and musician, Richard Tognetti. The program will be inspired by the ballet music of the French Baroque composer, Jean-Philippe Rameau. For dates go to: http://www.sydneydancecompany.com.
Meanwhile, the company opened its Sydney season of The Land of Yes and the Land of No last night, after a stint at the Brisbane Festival.
