Short+Sweet Dance Melbourne 2012 is a festival with just one rule – no dance over 10 minutes.  Other than that it’s all about variety – contemporary, hip-hop, dance theatre, tap, ballet and more.

Included in this year’s dance line-up are new works by international award-winning choreographers Charmayne Dulley (Canada, Ireland) and Lina Limosani (Chunky Move, Australian Dance Theatre; Scotland, Holland).

This year's Short+Sweet Dance program in Melbourne offers a new mentoring program.  Festival Director, Adam Wheeler elaborates, saying, "One of my priorities as the new Festival Director is to look at how Short+Sweet can nurture and support emerging professional artists in developing and making new dance works, showcase the outstanding work our Melbourne choreographers make and provide pathways for their work to take on a future and be part of the vibrant Melbourne Arts scene.  We are so lucky to have Tim Harbour, Kristy Ayre, Etienne Khoo and Alfie Scalia, four acclaimed dance artists across the genres of ballet, contemporary, hip hop and jazz as part of our Short+Sweet Dance Melbourne A-Team.  This new mentoring program has seen industry professionals in the studio guiding our choreographers and the result will be a fantastic season of high quality dance. I am very excited and proud that Short+Sweet can offer this opportunity and encourage audiences across Melbourne to experience the exceptional work our A-Team mentors and choreographers have done."

Short+Sweet Dance opens 20 November.
