Sydney-based film-maker and choreographer Sue Healey will be in arriving in Perth this week. Healy will spend two weeks in residence at Chrissie Parrott Arts (CPA) where she will be launching her new dance/film installation, On View, conducting a workshop and showing some of her award-winning films. Healey will also take daily professional classes, as part of a partnership between CPA and Strut dance.
On View is a performance installation showcasing the outcome of the newly developed portrait of Perth based dancer Shona Erskine, a long-time collaborator of Healey's. On View is described as being about the act of seeing and being seen. The work creates a dramatic tension between pretence and reality, intimacy and public scrutiny. In this world that is obsessed with celebrity, it is a fascinating and thought provoking subject.
Participants in Healey’s workshop, entitled Dancing for the Camera, will experience moving for and with the camera – allowing accuracy, fluidity and an awareness of the camera space to be understood. Anyone can attend with any camera including smart phones, iPads, or digital video cameras.
