The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) will be bringing a little disco-inspired musical fantasy to Perth with the Broadway hit, Xanadu

Based on the cult classic 1980s film of the same name, which famously starred Olivia Newton-John, Xanadu follows the fortunes of a Greek muse, Clio, who descends from Mount Olympus to Venice Beach, California.  Clio is on a quest to help struggling artist Sonny to create a roller disco.  Disguised as an Australian roller girl named Kira, she falls into forbidden love with the mortal Sonny, risking eternal banishment from the underworld.

It’s a hilarious roller-skating, musical adventure, set to an original hit score that includes 80s classics such as “Magic”, “Party All Over the World”, “Suddenly”, “I’m Alive” and, of course, “Xanadu”.

Xanadu opens Saturday 17 March at The Geoff Gibbs Theatre, Edith Cowan University, Mt Lawley.
