2015 is the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) in Australia. To celebrate the RAD Is holding community-focused gala performances nationwide.
These galas are supported by some of Australia’s leading ballet companies, institutions and artists, including RAD vice presidents David McAllister AM (artistic director of the Australian Ballet) and Li Cunxin (artistic director of Queensland Ballet).
The first gala was held in March in Melbourne and was followed by events in Perth and Canberra. It’s Sydney’s turn next, with a gala which will be presented 22 and 23 August at the University of NSW. Brisbane’s gala will be held 12 September at St Peter’s Lutheran College of Performing Art, and then Adelaide’s 17 October at Her Majesty’s Theatre.
