A number of dance professionals have been recognised in the in the Queens Birthday Honours list.

Congratulations to Lucy Guerin, artistic director Lucy Guerin Inc in Melbourne who was appointed an Officer in the General Division (AO) for distinguished service to contemporary dance as a choreographer, and as a mentor and advocate for emerging artist and new works);

Libby Christie, CEO of the Australian Ballet, who was appointed for significant service to performing arts administration, and to women in business) and Bronwyn Watkins, former national director of Royal Academy of Dance Australia, who was appointed Member in the General Division (AM) for significant service to the performing arts through dance administration.

Jean Wilmot (NSW) was recognised with a Medal in the General Division (OAM) for service to sailing, and to dance education.

Jerril Rechter, founder of Stompin' Youth Dance and a former artistic associate of the Melbourne International Festival of the Arts, was appointed an AM for her “significant service to community health, to sports administration, and to the arts". She is presently CEO of Basket Ball Australia!
