2012 sees Jonathan Holloway take over the reins of the Perth International Arts Festival (PIAF).  Holloway has spent the last six years directing the UK's Norfolk and Norwich Festival, during which time ticket sales tripled!

Holloway's PIAF line-up includes works from two international dance companies, Lucinda Childs Dance Company and Grupo Corpo.

Lucinda Childs brings her 1979 signature work, Dance.  Made in collaboration with the now iconic composer Philip Glass and minimalist artist Sol LeWitt, Dance was ground-breaking at the time of creation.   Childs is considered one of the great postmodern dance pioneers and this is a rare opportunity to see her work live on stage.

Last seen in Perth in 1996, Brazilian dance company Grupo Corpo will perform a double bill of Parabelo and Onqotô.  The former is a foot-stamping, hip-shaking exploration of Brazil's many traditional communities, while the latter is a boisterous creation set to the Latin sounds of Brazilian superstars Caetano Veloso and Jose Miguel Wisnik.

As always, the PIAF dance program will include West Australian Ballet's annual "Ballet at the Quarry" season.  This year's Quarry season will be headlined by Australian-born choreographer Terence Kohler (keep an eye out for an interview with Kohler in the Dec/Jan issue of Dance Australia).  The season also features George Balanchine's Serenade, as well as works by WAB's Artistic Director, Ivan Cavallari and Reed Luplau.
