Principal Artists of the Paris Opera Ballet, Dorothée Gilbert and Stéphane Bullion, will join in The Australian Ballet’s 50th birthday celebrations next month. The Australian Ballet anniversary gala opens on 31 October in Melbourne and includes an impressive line-up of international guests.
Other recent guest announcements include Australian-born Damian Smith, who is a Principal Artist with the San Francisco Ballet, and American Ballet Theatre Principal Artist, Julie Kent. They will join artists from the Stuttgart Ballet, the Tokyo Ballet and the National Ballet of China on stage with The Australian Ballet.
Unsurprisingly, Artistic Director of The Australian Ballet, David McAllister is excited about the prestigious program. “It’s the best 50th birthday present we could have, and it’s our gift back to Australian audiences who will be blown away by this once-in-a-lifetime season of ballet,” he remarked.
