Creative Behaviours Dance Collective is a volunteer initiative that supports professional dancers and choreographers with regular opportunities to train together and explore creative ideas.

Established by independent director and performer Helen Duncan, Creative Behaviours Dance Collective exists to help independent dance artists to remain work-ready in between jobs. “The reality is that there’s really not enough funding or jobs available for all dance graduates and failure to attain either of these does not reflect the quality of what you do or your right to call yourself an artist,” says Duncan.  “The ability to create and self-drive opportunities is the secret to survival along with making sure we’re fit and ready should that ‘call’ finally arrive!”

Based at Docklands Cotton Mills, the Creative Behaviours studio space is available for hire for photography, meetings and workshops, with the remaining time available to the Creative Behaviours Dance Collective. The income generated from studio bookings goes directly to supporting the running cost of the venue, offering Helen and the collective dancers access to a beautiful space to train, create and to support one another.

The collective will be holding auditions for new members on Sunday 9 August.  For more information about the collective and to register to audition please visit creativebehaviours.com.au/dance-company.
