The Australian Ballet is launching into the year with a program presenting three of the world’s top choreographers at the top of their form.
Called "Vitesse", the triple bill comprises Christopher Wheeldon’s DGV: Danse à Grande Vitesse, evoking the flickering intensity of a high-speed train as it passes through a tunnel; Jirí Kylián’s haunting and fluid Forgotten Land, exploring loss and change with long swirling dresses in a desolate seascape; and William Forsythe’s In the Middle, Somewhat Elevated, in which the dancers, in signature platter tutus, push and distort the classical technique.
A program that should appeal to all lovers of ballet, it represents the cutting edge of the art form.
'Vitesse' runs at Arts Centre Melbourne from March 11 to 21 and Sydney Opera House from April 26 to May 16.
