Aakesh Odedra, one of the UK and South Asia’s rising dance stars, is coming to both Brisbane and Sydney -- first at the Brisbane Powerhouse on September 27 and 28 and then at Riverside Theatres, Parramatta, on October 5 and 6 as part of the Parramasala Festival.

Odedra will be performing solos created especially for him by internationally-renowned choreographers Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Russell Maliphant and Akram Khan, as well as a self-devised solo.  While the four works are contemporary in style, each also utilises Odedra’s classical Indian training in the disciplines of Kathak and Bharatanatyam.

Needless to say, Parramasala Festival director, David Malcari, is thrilled to be presenting Odedra. “Western Sydney audiences now have the chance to see the work of amazing international choreographers previously only seen in the city,” he remarks. “Increasingly, we are seeing the best national and international artists bring their work to Western Sydney through events like Parramasala. Aakash Odedra is an artist whose career has only just begun. His visit to Parramatta will be remembered by everyone in Sydney who loves dance.”
