Applications for a new youth choreographic award, entitled Dance Architect, close this week!

Determined to create new platforms for Australian dance, especially in light of recent government cuts to the arts sector, Paul Malek and Chris Curran are excited to offer this developmental opportunity for young dancers to take their next step in the world of choreography.

The program will see a jury of industry leaders select two recipients (one aged 15 to 18; the other 19 to 25) to develop and stage a fully funded performance season in an exclusive three day performance at Footscray Arts Centre in 2017. Entrants will present a short contemporary dance work as part of the Dance Architect showcase in October.

The top 10 presentations, selected by the jury, will perform at the Dance Architect final, with two successful young choreographers being selected and presented with their respective awards. Industry professionals will individually guide the two award recipients through a full process of creation, from their initial concept to a 15-30 minute work.

Applications close 30 July 2016.
