The Australian Ballet Schoo (ABS) l has announced a new annual scholarship opportunity for Australian and international students. Entitled the Australian Ballet School Scholarship Awards, the initiative gives students aged 10-17 the opportunity to compete to win scholarships to train at the ABS.
The competition, which takes place 10-12 June 2016, involves a masterclass with ABS staff and a performance of a classical variation before a panel of Australian dance professionals. Selected candidates will perform their variation at the finals. The event will include the performance of a pas de deux from Stephen Baynes’s Swan Lake by principal artists of the Australian Ballet, as well as a performance of "Grand Pas Classique" (Raymonda) by senior students of the ABS.
Prizes include three full scholarships to train for one year at the ABS in 2017. Runner up prizes include six two-week training opportunities at the ABS in 2017.
