New dance program for Queensland Academies Creative Industries

Queensland Academies Creative Industries, a selective entry senior state high school based in Kelvin Grove, Qld, has announced the introduction of dance as part of its multi-strand arts faculty. Dance will be offered from 2017, complementing the school’s existing arts program that includes design technology, film, music, theatre and visual arts.

For year 10 2017, applications will be invited from advanced dancers who are interested in developing artistry beyond their current studio experience in the areas of contemporary dance practice and design.

The dance course is studied through the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program and focuses on composition, performance and analysis. Students will also develop critical and motivated thinking skills within their artistic practice. Students will also have industry mentorship opportunities.
