A new Melbourne dance theatre company, called Ignite the Dark, is holding its first season on August 12 and 13 at Gasworks Theatre in South Melbourne.
The company is directed by Daniel Ryan and Alfie Scalia, who between them have 20 years dance experience.
Their new work is called The Earth, the Sea and the Moon and is the tale of neurotic hermit “Moon”, and the woman he loves. “Every day he sits in his apartment and watches the girl of his dreams (even though they have never spoken or even met), and every day is the same. Lost in his imagination, occupied with unrequited love and day-dreaming of one day finding the confidence to approach the object of his affection, Moon creates his ulti-mate alter ego. An alter ego that, in the end, foils his every attempt for true love.”
