Students from NAISDA Dance College will present “Ngalpun Mudth (Our Home)” at Carriageworks in Sydney from 11-14 December. The production features over 40 dancers performing works by nine professional choreographers and two student choreographers.

Ngalpun Mudth (Our Home in the Kala Lagaw Ya language of Moa Island) explores the relationship human beings have with the land and the sea, and the idea that we carry our “home” with us where ever we go.  Productions director Raymond D Blanco elaborates, “We, as human beings, are blessed with memory and recall and by utilising this quality, we take parts of our home with us always, a scent that reminds us of home, a sound that initiates an emotion of people and place. In our characteristic make-up we often, as we grow older, hear the voices of our parents resonating through us. Our homes are quite significant in who we are and where we come from.”

The program includes new works from NAISDA graduates Gary Lang, Frances Rings, Vicki Van Hout and Sani Townson.  There are also new works from Pam Williams, Paula Quinteros, Kristina Chan and Aku Kadago.  The show will also feature an excerpt from Graeme Murphy's work The Protecting Veil.
