The McDonald College in Sydney has started 2012 by hosting its 6th International Summer School. More than 300 students from the ages of six to 18 years came from all around Australia and the world to participate in the program, including from New Zealand, Japan, America, and England.
Jacqui Dumont, Director of the International Summer School, was delighted to have so many wonderful students: “Not only did we have students from around the world attend the program, but we also had world-renowned teachers, such as Darcey Bussell (former principal ballerina with the Royal Ballet) and Lynne Wallis (artistic director of the Royal Academy of Dance, London),” she said.
Principal of the McDonald College, Maxine Kohler, said that “with ballet students from the College heading off to companies such as Het Nationale in the Netherlands and the Royal Ballet School in London, there has been extra excitement and interest around our ballet program”. On top of this, “some of our students from the music and dance streams are involved in the new series of Young Talent Time”.
The McDonald College International Summer School concluded on January 20, but students and teachers are already talking about next year’s program.
