Melbourne City Ballet's next production is The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, which it will bring to audiences in Melbourne and Tasmania. The ballet is being brought to life with new sets and costumes and the company’s largest ensemble to date, and is MCB's  most extravagant production for 2017.

“I envisioned the ballet to be stylistically exaggerated with dynamic choreography and vibrant sets and costumes,” says artistic director Michael Pappalardo. “Melbourne City Ballet has seen so much growth in the past 12 months and with this growth the demands on what the Company delivers has grown, I felt the timing was right to take on this big, bold ballet so that audiences walk away thinking 'Wow'!''.

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz will open in Melbourne on 6 October for limited performances at Plenty Ranges Arts & Convention Centre and Darebin Arts and Entertainment Centre and then, thanks to the generous support of Spirit of Tasmania, the Company will cross Bass Straight for the first time to captivate audiences in Tasmania.
