Sydneysiders can catch Melbourne Ballet Company at the Concourse, Chatswood, when the company performs Simon Hoy’s Archè  at the end of June.

Taking inspiration from both Swan Lake and the Dying Swan, and the Greek myth Leda and the Swan, Archè explores the iconic figure of the swan, to score comprised of excerpts from Tchaikovsky, Einaudi, Morricone, and Elgar.

Archè is a Greek word implying the beginning, the source from which all things arise. Ancient Greek philosophers sought the archè in the four fundamental essences of the Earth: water, earth, air, fire. In Irish culture, the swan represents a form of communication between these elements – swimming in the water, flying in the air, resting on the earth and drawing power from the sun.

Archè will play the Concourse 29 and 30 June. For bookings head to http://theconcourse.com.au/melbourne-ballet-company-arche/
