The Sharp Short Dance Festival is on again, and this year it promises to be bigger and better than ever.

The 2022 iteration of this choreographic showcase has expanded to feature both live and filmed dance works.

Based at the Parramatta Riverside Theatres in Western Sydney, Sharp Short Dance celebrates young talent in a supportive environment. The festival is open to choreographers and dancers 21 years and under, locally and from across Australia. Regional NSW young artists are encouraged to apply, notably from the Central West region with SSD partner Cowra Civic Centre hosting a regional heat.

Short Dance LIVE Entrants will perform over three heats for a panel of industry professionals, who will invite the best works to perform in the final. Winning performances are eligible for awards such as Most Innovative Choreography, Outstanding Performer Junior and Senior and the Audience Choice Award. Finalists are also eligible for valuable industry secondment opportunities with dance companies.

Sharp Short Dance FILM Dance Films will be presented on FORM’s website where audiences are invited to participate in voting for their favourite work. Three finalist films will be chosen and eligible for the Best Film Award and Audience Choice Award presented at the livestreamed final. Finalists are also eligible for valuable industry secondment opportunities with leading dance companies.
