Ballet Theatre of Queensland (BTQ) is seeking an experienced executive director to manage all facets of its operations. The position is part-time (approx. 10-15 hours per week but the time commitment will vary throughout the season).
The executive director will report to the BTQ Board, which provides strategic direction for the company, and will also be supported by a committee of volunteers.
Specific duties include:
- Liaise with the artistic director/s as to their requirements and report identified matters to the Board/Committee as appropriate
- Liaise with QPAC in relations to the hiring of the facility and staging of the production
- Manage the production budget
- Liaise with committee members in relation to their specific portfolios (ie. Treasury, scenery construction, costumes etc)
- Manage the marketing activities for the production including development of hero images, advertisements, flyers, posters and banners, in consultation with the Artistic Director
- Develop and implement the advertising strategy for the production
- Take responsibility for publicity for the production, including preparation of news releases and media liaison• Liaise with major sponsors to ensure ongoing support and commitment• Work with government agencies to pursue competitive grants
- Pursue other fundraising activities where appropriate including stewardship on donors
- Liaise with dance schools to promote activities
- Ensure BTQ web presence is up-to-date and industry standard
- Work with creative directors to oversee construction of scenery, props and costumes.
The successful applicant will have significant experience in arts administration and enjoy working in the not-for-profit environment. Knowledge of the technical aspects of staging a major production (eg. licensing; venue hire, lighting, set, props and costumes; stage management and backstage activities) would be an advantage.
Ballet Theatre of Queensland is a youth ballet company and Australia’s longest running classical ballet company. BTQ provides professional performance and stagecraft opportunities for talented young dancers from all over South-East Queensland by staging six performances in January each year.
