It’s our birthday and we're celebrating four decades of dance!

“I think it’s about time that we had a national magazine. It has been far too long,” said the late, great classical dancer Kelvin Coe, OBE, in the very first issue of Dance Australia. His dance partner, Marilyn Rowe, OBE, agreed. With such encouraging words the magazine came into being back in 1980. It’s hard to believe it was 40 years ago. Since then Dance Australia has become an institution in Australian dance - documenting and celebrating the achievements of our beloved artform. In the April/May issue, we have dipped into the archives and put together a fascinating compendium of snippets, photos and wise words from over the years for readers to relive or discover and enjoy.
