Garry Stewart, the artistic director of Australian Dance Theatre, has announced the full program for the inaugural Adelaide Dance Festival, of which he is artistic director.

"The Adelaide Dance Festival is an invitation for the people of Adelaide to experience dance in it’s many manifestations," he says. "Whether it is sitting in a darkened theatre, as you enter a museum exhibition or discovering your own budding dance ability, this year’s Festival is full of events that embrace the vast spectrum of what constitutes this art form.

"From performances to workshops, ballet to breaking, the Adelaide Dance Festival program celebrates the creative, participatory and transformative nature of dance across two weeks in July."

Local artists such as Limosani Projekts, Alison Currie and The Human Arts Movement, Jo Stone, Erin Fowler, Lewis Major, and Australian Dance Theatre will be showcased alongside Dancenorth from Queensland and The Australian Ballet.

"We are also delighted to be partnering with Panpapanpalya, the international joint dance congress that is being held in Adelaide from 8-13 July."

There will also be masterclasses, discussions, film and workshops. The festival runs from 8 to 31 July.
