Melbourne’s annual Green Room Awards were presented on Sunday 19 April.  The Green Room Awards recognise outstanding performances in Melbourne in the areas of cabaret, dance, musical theatre, opera, theatre, and alternative and hybrid performance.  The awards have been presented since 1982.

The following awards were given for dance productions:

For Concept and Realisation
James Batchelor – Island
and
Lilian Steiner – Noise Quartet Meditation

For Male Dancer
Waangenga Blanco – Patyegarang (Bangarra Dance Theatre)
    
For Female Dancer
Lauren Langlois – Complexity of Belonging (Melbourne Theatre Company and Chunky Move)

For Ensemble Performance
Patyegarang – Bangarra Dance Theatre
    
Shirley McKechnie Award for Choreography    
Shaun Parker – Am I (Shaun Parker & Company)
    
For Visual Design
Jack Hancock and Bosco Shaw (costume and lighting) – Princess (Chunky Move)
    
For Music, Sound Design and Performance
Alisdair Macindoe – Princess (Chunky Move)
    
In musical theatre, the Betty Pounder Award For Excellence In Choreography was awarded to Jerome Robbins & Susan Kikuchi – The King And I (John Frost, Opera Australia)
