In 2007, on a basketball court on Arnhem Land, dance group Djuki Mala performed a self-devised dance routine to the tune of Zorba the Greek.     Within 12 weeks of the clip being posted on YouTube it had received over 500 000 hits.

These days Djuki Mala perform in theatres, presenting works which blend traditional indigenous culture, contemporary dance and storytelling, offering a rare view into Aboriginal Australian culture.  The group has performed at festivals and events throughout Australia, the UK, Europe, China, Taiwan and Canada.  The group is known for its blend of comedy and clowning, movement skill and discipline.

Djuki Mala will be appearing at the Adelaide Fringe Festival with a new work that tells the group’s story, inviting the audience to share and experience some of their more intimate moments and turning points.
