Force Majeure has launched a new national workshop series tailored to artists working in dance, theatre and physical performance. Designed to embed consent, boundaries and emotional safety into creative practice, the Consent and Boundaries workshops are led by Artistic Director Danielle Micich and open to dancers, actors, choreographers and other live performance professionals.
Drawing on over 30 years of experience across stage and screen, Micich brings insights from her work with Bell Shakespeare, Sydney Theatre Company and Performing Lines WA, as well as her decade-long career as an intimacy director for film, TV and theatre. Her recent credits include BUMP, The Other Guy 2 and Before 8am. This workshop series integrates intimacy coordination methodology with physical practice, offering dancers and physical performers a new framework for navigating collaborative and embodied work.
Participants will explore tools for improvisation, contact and ensemble work, intimate content and facilitation of emotionally safe environments. The focus is on enabling creative risk while maintaining clear, respectful and empowering boundaries.
“This is about building a culture where consent and safety are not afterthoughts, but essential components of the creative process,” says Micich.
Participants of past workshops with Force Majeure speak highly of the approach. One participant shared: “The safety and support in a Force Majeure room is incredible and should be industry standard. Force Majeure’s safe practice is respectful, encouraging and truly allows for the work, the individual and the collective to all thrive.”
Workshops are suitable for anyone over 18 working in performance, including dancers, actors, choreographers, stage managers, directors, and other creatives interested in fostering more respectful and sustainable practices.
